What it is
Understanding flagging
Flagging is the controlled stopping and releasing of traffic by trained personnel using STOP/SLOW paddles, standardized signals, and radio communication. It's required whenever workers, equipment, or operations occupy the roadway in a way static devices can't manage alone — one-lane two-way operations, intersections, driveways under construction, and moving operations.
A flagging operation is only as good as the people running it. Every Traffik flagger works to MUTCD Chapter 6E procedures and the state's flagger certification requirements, wears high-visibility apparel rated for the roadway, and is positioned with proper advance warning signs and escape routes. Behind every crew is a field supervisor coordinating positions, breaks, and communication with your foreman.
